Start by cooking the bacon. Place the bacon strips in a cold pan, then heat over medium heat. Allow the bacon to slowly cook, flipping occasionally, until crispy. Remove the bacon and let it drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Leave about 1 tablespoon of the bacon fat in the pan.
